| Mission - To produce professionals that have a deep knowledge of all the important topics of the profession, have an understanding of another engineering or scientific discipline and how it relates to chemical engineering, and can apply this knowledge to independently conduct original research. |

| 1. Prepare students to independently conduct original research in chemical engineering and related topics. |
| 2. Prepare students to create knowledge and provide innovative approaches to solve problems in chemical engineering and related topics. |
| 3. Give students a strong background on the fundamental principles and applications of chemical engineering. |
| 4. Give students a background in a different discipline, so that they can be incorporated into interdisciplinary research teams. |
| 5. Prepare students to pursue academic careers. |
| 6. Prepare the students to deliver public presentations of their research work and to write scientific papers. |
| 7. Prepare the students to specialize in topics that are representative of chemical engineering applications in Arizona industries, such as those involved in semiconductor processing, public utilities, biotechnology and environmental engineering. |
