PhD Environmental Engineering
Mission - To produce professionals with a thorough, broad knowledge of all the important areas of environmental engineering and a deep, cutting edge understanding in a specific area sufficient to independently conduct original research.

 

Educational Objectives
1. Prepare students to independently conduct original research in environmental engineering and related topics
2. Prepare students to create knowledge and provide innovative approaches to solve problems in environmental engineering and related topics.
3. Prepare students to undertake a leadership role in their professional career, including an awareness of the importance of diversity, interdisciplinary perspective, and professional ethics.
4. Give students a background in a different discipline, so that they can be incorporated into interdisciplinary research teams.
5. Prepare the students to deliver public presentations, write technical papers, and interact in professional settings as an integral component of an academic, public service, or private sector career.
6. Prepare the students with expertise in environmental engineering issues specific to Arizona and awareness of the unique challenges posed by trans-border problems, particularly in the areas of water quality, water reuse, and hazardous waste treatment.
