| Overview The Doctor of Philosophy in Electrical and Computer Engineering prepares
its graduates: 1. to independently conduct original research in electrical and computer
engineering topics,
2. to create knowledge and provide innovative approaches to solve problems
in electrical and computer engineering and related topics,
3. with a strong background on the fundamental principles and applications
of electrical and computer engineering
4. with a background in a different discipline, so that they can be incorporated
into interdisciplinary research teams
5. to deliver public presentations of their research work and to write
scientific papers, and
6. to specialize in topics that are representative of electrical and
computer engineering applications in Arizona industries, such as those
involved in semiconductors, utilities, defense, optics, information technology,
biotechnology, and environmental engineering.
