BS Engineering Physics
Mission - students should be prepared for leadership roles in an increasingly diverse and technological world.

 

Educational Objectives
 1. Understand the role of science in our society.
 2. Have a firm grasp of the theories that form the basis of mechanics, electricity and magnetism, optics, thermodynamics, quantum mechanics and special relativity, and some knowledge of nuclear and particle physics, solid state physics and astrophysics.
 3. Be able to apply the principles of physics to solve real world problems.
 4. Be familiar with the experiments upon which our understanding of physics is based.
5. Be familiar with basic laboratory equipment, and should be able to design and carry out experiments to answer questions or to demonstrate principles.
6. Be able to communicate their results through written reports and oral presentations, and be able to keep comprehensive laboratory notebooks recording their procedures and results.
7. Be familiar with the principles and practice of engineering and should be able to apply their knowledge to solve state of the art problems, both individually and as part of a team.
