Ways assessment results have been used to improve the degree program

As a result of student surveys and scores on specific test questions, it was determined that students were not properly prepared in two areas: (1) what constitutes a proper business plan, and (2) how to determine cash flow in a business.

To correct this situation, we introduced (1) a formal business plan outline, and (2) a simulated new company financial model to SIE 467, that requires the students to develop the model and show the cash flows, depending on a variety of business situation inputs.

We also found, from student exit interviews and surveys, that they did not understand the difference between retail marketing, and technical product marketing.

To correct this situation, we replaced a general marketing course taught in the Business College with a course in Technical Marketing and Sales.
