AirScrew Software

This program was adapted for use with miniature windmills like those in the homework of Becoming an Engineer and Teaming on Design Projects by Vern R. Johnson. It was created by Russell Whitenack and Larry Scott (University Of Arizona) from the earlier work of James L. Tangler (Wind Energy Research Center, Aeroviroment Inc.) and J. David Kocurek (Computational Methodology Associates). This adaptation required parameters in the program to be substantially scaled down to match the miniature sizes needed. This slightly reduces the accuracy of the results, but provides the reader an excellent experience with the same tool used by designers of commercial windmills.

bullet Step 2.  Unzip the file Airscrew2000Disk1.zip to extract the three files: Air2001.cab, setup.exe, and setup.lst. Copy all three of these files to a floppy disk. Label the disk AirScrew 2000 version 1.01 Disk 1 of 2.
bullet Step 3. Unzip the file Airscrew2000Disk2.zip to extract the file: Air2002.cab. Copy this file to a floppy disk. Label the disk AirScrew 2000 version 1.01 Disk 2 of 2.
bullet Step 4. Insert the disk labeled AirScrew 2000 version 1.01 Disk 1 of 2 in the disk drive.
bullet Step 5. Use Windows Explorer to locate the file setup.exe on the floopy disk (usually the A drive).
